Most recognizable by its slip-on styling, the loafer was originally created as a house slipper for King George VI of England. John Bass, a bootmaker started making Loafers commercially in 1934 originally calling them Weejuns – the flat slip-on shoes worn by Norwegian farmers. These comfortable shoes are perfect for lounging and traveling in.
Moccasins are the more formal brothers of loafers. This, however, does not mean that they are to be worn at black tie events or other highly formal settings. Like loafers, moccasins are also recognizable by their slip-on styling. Moccasins are commonly made of soft leather, mainly suede. Unlike loafers, moccasins have a soft & flexible sole and they do not have a heel.
